About Downing Sales & Service, Inc.
History
Prior to starting in the waste industry, Larry Downing proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where his area of expertise was truck driving. After leaving the service, he spent four years in the engineering field working for the Missouri Public Service Company and the Missouri Water Company.
Larry spent more than fourty years in the waste industry: first as a salesman, then as a business founder, owner, and operator. When beginning in the waste industry in 1972, Larry had many things to learn, including the service side of the business. While still in the equipment business, we started a trash hauling business. Larry understood the importance of parts, service techinicans, and mobile repair availability to keep your equipment up and running for daily routes.
Downing Sales and Service, Inc. was started June 1, 1982 at our current location in Phillipsburg, Missouri.
